The target group for this course will be international students wanting to gain the Certificate IV in Mechanical Diagnosis. Canberra Valley Institute will enrol a broad range of students from a variety of backgrounds and with varying career and educational ambitions and objectives.
This qualification is suited to the needs of individuals who possess AUR30620 Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or have skills and knowledge within automotive industry that they would like to develop in order to create further educational and employment opportunities.

This qualification will be delivered over 24 weeks of training and assessment and a total 2 weeks of term breaks.
There are no specific entry requirements as per the qualification details or training package. International students entering this course at Canberra Valley Institute must meet the following entry requirements:
Students must be a minimum age of 18 years at the time of course commencement.
To enter this qualification, applicants should have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 (or an international secondary school year which is equivalent to Australian Year 12) with satisfactory results OR Successful completion of an Australian qualification of AQF level 4. An educational achievement that is greater than any of these is also suitable.
Those undertaking the Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis MUST have completed AUR30620 Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology qualification or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency
To enter this qualification, applicants must also meet English Language Requirements – IELTS overall score of 6.0 or TOEFL IBT 60 or Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) 52 or PTE Academic 50 or equivalent (test results must be no more than 2 years old). Those undertaking the Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis MUST have completed AUR30616 Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology qualification or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency.
Participants are provided with advice on employment and training options throughout the delivery of the program. After achieving the AUR40216 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis, candidates may choose to undertake AUR50216 Diploma of Automotive Technology or other relevant qualifications.
